This month I would like to pay homage to Klein Tools. As most of us know, Klein has been synonymous with electrical workers for a very long time – in fact since 1857 when they were established. A lot has changed since those early days when Mathias Klein emigrated from Germany to the United States; however Klein still prides themselves on the quality of their tools along with the variety of tools that they have to offer.
A while back, Local 353’s education and training department was fortunate enough to strike up a relationship directly with Klein Tools. Ever since our inaugural meeting, we have worked closely with Klein Tools on a great many of our re-tooling projects and startups.
Klein Tools moved forward with a purchasing program for the education and training department where we enjoy a very good discount from them on our purchases. Klein Tools has also provided us with a hand tool demo board with the basic apprenticeship tools on it. This demo board is utilized within our Hammer Heads program for the electrical training. We also use it for the all of the school programs that come to our Mississauga Training Centre.
Most recently, with word of our “new” Oshawa Training Centre being released, Klein Tools stepped up large for our continuing education program. They are donating all of the basic tools required for a Conduit Fabrication – Level 1 course for our new facility. This equates to:
- 15 – ½” hand benders
- 15 – ¾” hand benders
- 5 – 1” hand benders
- 7 – Tape measures
- 7 – Red Robertson screwdrivers, and,
- 7 – Slot screwdrivers.
Not only did Klein Tools commit to this donation, they have already delivered the tools to us. Currently the tools are locked up in storage and will remain that way until they are set up in our Conduit Fabrication – Level I lab in the new Oshawa Training Centre.
Partnerships like this help make anything possible!
To our training partner Klein Tools, a heartfelt thank-you for your kind and generous donation of the aforementioned equipment.
